Have you ever taken careful thought of yourself? Do you realize that there is absolutely no one like you in the whole universe? The same way you are so very unique, your purpose on this earth is unique and your way of doing things is unique. What we need to work on is believing that you are completely enough to fulfill your purpose just as you are. Sometimes, we are tempted to think that someone else is better and we try to be like them or other people think you can do things better if you do it their way. So they try to impose their ways on you.
When Saul was convinced that David could indeed fight against Goliath, He put his armor on David and made David dress like him. But David was bold enough to say, No! I am going to be myself. I am going to fight the way I know how. We need to realize that it is not always our strength that makes us win. Many times, better techniques are more powerful that physical strength. David understood that well. He had practiced using his stones so much that he knew exactly how they work. He would have lost the battle if he went to fight wearing Saul’s war attire because they did not fit him, they were too heavy for him and he did not know how to use them. But he went out the way he knew how to fight even though it did not seem to measure up. He killed Goliath! You are at your best when you are authentic/yourself. Do it your way and you will have lighter loads to carry and more success.
1 Samuel 17: 38-40, Then Saul dressed David in his own military clothes. He put a coat of armor on him. He put a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David put on Saul’s sword over his clothes. He walked around for a while in all that armor because he wasn’t used to it. “I can’t go out there in all this armor,” he said to Saul. “I’m not used to it.” So he took it off. 40 Then David picked up his wooden staff. He went down to a stream and chose five smooth stones. He put them in the pocket of his shepherd’s bag. Then he took his sling in his hand and approached Goliath.
Having two vehicles in a family with two adults is not a very big deal to many. But today we were reminded that it is God who watches out for us. Steve ‘ s car ended up in the shop this morning and we were down to one car. My daughter wakes up with a stomachache and after observing her, I feel strongly that I couldn’t push her to go to school. So am with her home and about 1pm, I remembered I didn’t have any milk in the house. Took my daughter …and on my way to grab some quick milk, I hear this repeated noise. Eventually, I stopped to look cos it was getting louder. I had a completely flat tire. I was right by WarMart so I pulled in. We were in there for three hours which means my daughter would have been stranded at school 2:30pm cos Steve didn’t have a car either to pick her up. I had to get a new tire and thankfully for warranties cost me only $10. But the biggest miracle is how I end up with my daughter home when otherwise we would have ended up in a situation. I am so thankful to God for great and small ways He orders our days. We can’t really depend on things. Our God is do dependable.
Psalm 59:16-17 (NIRV) But I will sing about your strength. In the morning I will sing about your love. You are like a fort to me. YOu keep me safe in times of trouble. 16 You give me strength. Ising praise to you. God, YOU are like a fort to me. You are my God, and I can depend on you.
Although intimacy is extremely beautiful, many people live without the experience of it or with rare experience of it. Intimacy is a heart to heart relationship and when you find it, you know it but you can’t explain it. To have this experience, you must cultivate the right environment for it. God created humans to have an intimate relationship with Him and as a result, our soul longs for intimacy. An intimate relationship brings about a deeper understanding of one another. It is a relationship that is closer than words can express and feels sweet to be in. It fills your heart with warmth, peace, comfort, joy and all those deep emotions that one can’t describe. Scripture talks of the peace that passes understanding and the joy that is unspeakable. This type of depth is brought about by developing an intimate relationship with God.
Intimacy does not just happen because we desire it or admire it. It takes personal intention to cultivate it. A husband and a wife don’t develop intimacy just because they are married or share a bed. Intimacy is much more than that. When a man loves a women and wants to pour his heart out to her, he does not do it in a restaurant parked with people even though there is nothing wrong with being in a restaurant. They will find a quiet place where there is no destructions and no one else around. In the same manner, to develop intimacy with our creator, we must cultivate the right environment. Sometimes, we might experience intimacy while you are in a prayer meeting or a worship service if you are familiar with what intimacy with God is. But nothing close to what you would experience in private just you and Him. When you take action to go into a private place with God, He starts to reveal His heart and His mind to you. This changes how you see everything which changes your life as you continue to grow into a more intimate relationship with Him. We can never have enough of intimacy with God once we start to experience it. And what is amazing, is the intimacy does not remain in the private once you develop it. It starts in private and takes over every aspect of your life. God starts to manifest Himself in everything you do which changes your life forever as long as you don’t abandon that beginning place of intimacy. Your private place with God.
Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Have you ever struggled with something so much that you feel like giving up? Or someone oppressed you in a situation that you know what they are doing is wrong but they have so much power in that situation. Sometimes you feel like fighting for yourself but you realize you won’t go far in the natural.
Whether it is in your marriage, job, church, work, let the Lord fight your battles. When you attempt to fight, it gets ugly. When He fights for you, you are left with a testimony that you can use to encourage others. It may seem like nothing is happening when you continue to watch injustice. But keep in my that God is working all things for you once you are living your calling. Stay focused on His word. Our battles is won on our knees. No matter how difficult or hurtful a situation is, fighting in the natural makes things worse. But when you let God fight your battles, He does it right. In 1 Samuel 17, Goliath used words to put fear into the Israelites along with his size. Many times, some people or circumstances may seem like Goliath to us. But our God is great than any Goliath. In Verse 37 David attitude is the attitude believers need to have. He uses words just like Goliath and says, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” Goliath looks down on David due to his size and age and uses words to demean David. David again uses words and says, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” David won in spite of his small size and having no weapons of war compare to Goliath.
We need to face our Goliaths, not in fear like everyone else did, but in the name of our Lord like David did. God does not depend on our size or intellect to fight our battles. He depends on His might once we trust Him.
1 Samuel 17:47
Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”
We often hear, the worst regret is not the mistakes we make but the things we don’t get done. Yet often a time, we ignore the longings of our heart until it is too late. In many occasions, we think of ourselves as not good enough or not worthy of whatever calling is burning in our spirit.
You start thinking of others that you think will do it, or can do it better than you even before you try, or who knows more people than you do and the list is long. The truth is, when God calls you to do anything He equips you specifically to do that thing. When you don’t take a step and do it, you are living in disobedience to God no matter how humble you think you are. It could be that God is calling you to do things that are too big for you and you see no way out. It is disobedience to not take a step because you think big things are for those you think more advantaged than you. In God’s sight, no one is in a better than you. That’s why He has called you. He is not calling your ability. He is calling your availability for Him to use you. Humility is saying yes Lord and moving into whatever He is putting into your heart without regard of what anyone will think or say about you except God himself. Do not compare yourself to anyone or compete with anyone. Do not be jealous of anyone nor seek to sabotage another so that you look better than they. Do not focus on those that think you can’t or you are not the right person or those who do unfair things to get ahead. All those are distractions and you focusing on those is a waste of your time and energy. Just be aware and focus on your calling. Help those God has placed into your life to develop into their calling because by doing so you are building the kingdom of God. Do not look down on anyone but extol one another and encourage one another. Everyone has a unique calling yet seeming similar sometimes. Do not wait for someone else to do what God is placing in your heart to do. Do it yourself because He will be with you.
Exodus 4:15, (NKJV)
15 Now you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you shall do.
